LEGO Robotics

The Bryan/College Station area has a Girl Scout sponsored FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Challenge team! This STEM opportunity for girls from 4th-8th grade (GS Juniors and Cadettes) uses LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 robots to teach teamwork, programming, project planning, research, and embraces the tenets of the Girl Scout Promise and Law. A local competition offers a chance for friendly competition with 30-40 other teams, and could lead to regional and world-level competition! For more information, visit http://scoutbots.net!

There are FIRST opportunities for other ages too. If parents or other GS leaders are interested in any of these programs, please contact scoutbots@gmail.com.

FLL Discover (new 2020) program is for Pre-K to 1st Grade, designed to build STEM curiosity and learning habits.

FLL Explore (formerly FLL Junior) is for 2nd-4th Graders, with a focus on engineering fundamentals and creating solutions with LEGO Education WeDo 2.0.

FIRST Tech Challenge goes beyond LEGO robotics, and embraces design, build and code using Android technologies to compete against other teams. Grades 7-12.

FIRST Robotics Competition for high-school level challenges teams to build larger robots to play games in alliance with other teams and advancing STEM exposure in their communities.
